Hi, my name is Luke Gibbeson, and I’m the owner and founder of boardgamesupply.com.au. My friends call me Gibbo, and you’re welcome to as well.
I was born and raised in Sydney and I love technology, computers, board games, my two dachshunds, and play games too much.
I started my journey creating Board Game Supply back in November 2020. Armed with years of professional experience in marketing, web development and graphic design, I felt the time was right to create a business surrounding my passions and interests.
My decision to enter the board game retailing space came from my love for board games. At the time of writing this article, I have a board game collection of roughly 71 base games and 11 expansions. I often attend board gaming events and meet with friends to play board games, and manage a yearly leaderboard with bragging rights and a trophy on the line.
Board games are an excellent activity for entertainment and bonding between friends and family. I see board games as a very inclusive activity that welcomes anyone and everyone, from all cultures, young and old. Board games also offer a wide range of benefits; they encourage learning math and reading in children and offer mental health benefits. Some card and board games such as; Chess, Checkers, Poker, Go, and Uno can be played worldwide in different languages.
My goal for boardgamesupply.com.au is to offer a unique shopping experience where entry-level to veteran board gamers can shop efficiently and discover new games. While the shop is still in its infancy, you may already see implementations of this, such as complexity ratings and bgg (boardgamegeek) ratings on product pages, game mechanic, bgg rating and complexity filters on catalogue pages (Example below).
Offering a unique shopping experience focusing on excellent customer service isn’t just a business model to me. It’s a framework built on what I always wanted from a board game store as a customer. As Board Game Supply grows, I want to focus on what the community wants from a board game store and deliver. In saying that, if you have any ideas or suggestions, I am always keen to hear them.
In the meantime, I would like to thank you for visiting my website and reading about my journey so far. I look forward to growing my business and becoming your board game shop of choice.
If you ever want to play some online games or are in the Sydney area and want to play board games, please feel free to reach out to me at any time. The easiest places to reach me is via the contact form on the contact us page or in the Board Game Supply Discord.
I have been collecting funko pops for a few years and have grown quite the collection, however, I realized I didn’t know much about funko rarities, the history or even what different aspects of the boxes meant. I stumbled upon an article on this site and it was the most interactive and informative article I have read in so so long. It was so easy to read and the picture models were amazing. I found myself just scrolling the website since I also enjoy board games and tcgs as well. This is the first time I’ve been compelled to find out who made a site and give a compliment because I am so impressed. I’m glad you decided to create a place like this for people who love spending time around a table enjoying each other’s company, or finding pleasure in the smaller things in life like collecting. Just had to get that off my chest!
Hey Marlana,
Thanks for the comment; I really appreciate it. With the quantity of traffic articles bring in, genuine comments are quite rare, so it means a lot to me.
I’m glad I could provide some entertainment and insight into Funko Pops. If you’re looking to learn more about Funko Pops, I find the Funko Pop related Facebook Groups to be quite interesting.
Happy Gaming,
Luke
